HS Reunion
A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine from High School (Taylor, I know many of you know him) organized a get-together of a group of guys that knew each other in high school. We went up to McCall (9 hours from Bozeman!)for a long-weekend (long describing the time driving, not the time relaxing).
I had a great time (aside from the driving) and really thought that the whole thing was interesting. I can't say that all of the guys that were there were my closest friends from high school, but a couple of them were (Trevor, Taylor, Bryce) and they were all guys that I considered friends. I've kept up with Trevor and Taylor the best, though thats not saying much, but I was really struck by how much they all seemed to be pretty much the same. I wonder how much of that was real and how much is the result of reverting to old social roles? While each person's chosen life path has definately taken them in a different direction than my own, their choice of life path seemed quite fitting. But maybe I'm just fitting my observations to my theory. Do I sound like a dorky scientist or what?
P.S. It's crazy how I start a blog out meaning to tell one story, and end up telling another.

It took me a couple minutes looking at the photo, but I remember the names of all those guys. That's crazy considering it's been like 12-15 years since I last remember seeing most of them. I talked with Jeremy and Taylor every once in a while when I was going to BYU. Last time I saw Lister, he had a mohawk and was like 20 pounds lighter. :) Trevor goes to the same church building I do and I talk with him often. I'll have to call you to find out what everyone is doing now.
That's really cool that you all got together - pretty rare opportunity. I'd love the chance to see all of my old high school friends - Darren Ogden, Carsten Peterson, Aaron Ellsworth, Joel Deeble, Mark Graham and Sara Miller... sometimes I still dream of her at night! I kid! I kid! Once I started naming people, I just couldn't resist. I'm sure there are a lot of old stories to tell and life has shaped everyone differently. Different but the same.
Thanks so much for sharing the picture! Brings back SOOO many good memories! Taylor always was the one to kinda' "organize the social calendar," and apparently that hasn't changed.
Many of them, especially Bryce, Trevor, and Lister, look much the same, just a little older. Lister has become just a bit roly-poly, but the smile's the same. Interesting that Taylor, whom I thought would be the least changed, looks the most different to me.
I always enjoyed being around your friends - - and Paul's and Glen's and Steve's and Melecia's. Some of the funnest times were when they were around.
Thanks for sharing, Joel. I'm glad you went.
lol, roly poly. That picture just put me in another dimension for a second, I could hear all their voices and picture their reactions and stuff. I had some good friends but I seemed to change groups a lot. You always had that same group of guys since junior high, that's pretty cool. I tried to call Devin Ogden the other day but he changed his number.
I definitely got the 411 on some Boise area gossip. Of the many reasons that I would like to be back in Boise, being part of the pos-high-school rumor mill is not one of them.
I don't have to worry about the post-high-school rumor mill. I had a piece of humble pie two years ago when I ran into Amy Manwaring and a girl I graduated with. I knew the girl's name, that she was the captain of the drill team, etc. but she looked at me straight in the eye, paused and said, "Nope, I don't remember you AT ALL!" Nice! If I would have only done something scandalous for which I could be remembered. Instead, I'm the "who is THAT" guy. :)
That is really cool that you still keep in contact with your friends. I think men have a tendancy to lose contact after they move or get married.
It's fun to run into Sarah and Trevor at church. They seem like such a fun couple.
And Glen I think it's probably best to be "that guy" then some creep that no one can forget!
That looks like a lot of fun. It was funny that Madison was like "cute, kind of cute, not, very cute, CUTE!" etc. I would be interested in their different paths and how they have differed with yours. It is interesting how we revert back to old social roles even when we may not be that person anymore. Good deep thoughts! Good blog! Beats "go Rockies" big time!
Love,
Melecia
Looks like a fun trip. I'm impressed that you still keep in contact with people from High School...I probably couldn't tell you anyone's name anymore (that's what happens when you get old and have children!!)
We'd love you have you and Erin here in Boise...or anyone else who wants to move back...hint!hint!hint!
It is extremely interesting for me to read that post. Thank you for it. I like such themes and anything connected to this matter. I would like to read more on that blog soon.

Nice story as for me. It would be great to read more concerning that theme. The only thing I would like to see on that blog is some pictures of some devices.
